I was a really GOOD MOM before I had kids!

I would highly recommend this book if:
  1. If you are a mom, want to be a mom, know a mom or just want insight into a mothers world.
  2. Enjoy browsing Costco & Target aisles by yourself as your "Special" time.
  3. Worry about what snacks you will bring to preschool since you are the snack parent.
  4. You can't remember the last time you showered without two (or more) eyes on you.
  5. You refer to the bathroom as "the potty"

I was returning some items at Costco yesterday without the kids and thought hey I will walk around slowly since I have no kids and no plan. I love to look at the books at Costco since they have so many great ones and I stumbled on this one. (Quick side note: I had recorded Oprah since it was about moms and all that goes with being a mom. I started watching it but only got about 2 minutes in due to Loren wanting to watch the mariners game. What I did see was a book called "I'd Trade my husband for a Housekeeper" which I thought sounded funny and was anxious to watch the rest of Oprah later on.) So as I am enjoying my "Me" time I saw the book Oprah had talked about and then noticed the book pictured above and read the back and started laughing. I don't typically by these kind of books but I had to get it. I almost showed it to the stranger next to me because I figured any women would get a kick out of it...I didn't but I was close. I got it last night and only have a 2 more chapters to read and I am not a fast reader. It's so funny and I can totally relate to so much of the stuff they talk about it. If you want a laugh and to hear from other mothers and struggles with making life work with kids...highly recommend it. It's laid out a great and has these funny little quizzes in the beginning of every chapter. Fun stuff!

Enjoy!

Oh my gosh...I did it!

A little secret...I have always wanted to run a marathon! It's one of those things that I have never thought I could do so in turn I have wanted to do it. Well I am one step closer!

After thinking about it forever and debating it I finally registered for the Rock 'n' Roll Seattle - 1/2 Marathon! A few things about all of this...I had wanted to do it earlier but have a wedding I am coordinating that day and didn't think it could work, but it turned out the wedding is in the evening and so I could do it. Well then when I my schedule opened up but then I got scared to commit! Funny how that happens! The idea of paying money to run is a little crazy to me but when you have had something in your head for so long you might as well go for it. My mom is going to run the Portland Marathon in October 09' which I would have loved to do with her but with just having a baby, nursing and being heavier I didn't think it was realistic. I have been running for a little while now and will start my official training on Monday! I am really excited to be working towards something and getting closer to a goal of mine. It will be a great test to see if I love it or hate it. We will see! I hope it becomes an addiction of mine. It's a great start for me! Oh my gosh...I can't believe this! Oh and another thing...My mom is going to run it with me. Can't wait! Another motivator has been seeing some of my friends who have signed up for this too! Melanie was going to to the 1/2 but with all her training has decided to step-it up and do the full! So I am not only excited for myself but my friends that will be there too. GROUP PHOTO for sure!

While we were at my mom's house Max and I got to go check out the Portland Children's Museum. In the past I have always wanted to take him there but we never made the time and so we made sure to make it happen this visit. My mom watched Cole so Max and I got to go by ourselves...well Max, me and my camera! I had to get pictures since I didn't have to worry about baby Cole! I would recommend this place to any and everyone. The traveling exhibit is "Bob the Builder" and it was really neat. They also have this place called "The Pit" and it like a dirt pit but with rubber dirt...hard to explain but you can see the pictures. The water room, grocery store, theatre, tree house, and much more. They also have a cafe which was nice so Max and I had lunch. It's so great spending time with just Max and having the one-on-one time. Loren took him to his first movie a couple weeks ago and then we went and saw Monsters vs. Aliens this last weekend. It's fun that he is at that age that we can do fun things with him. I love that I get to see fun kid movies...being a parent just lets you be a kid again!

We had a wonderful time visiting my mom a few weeks ago. My mom and brother Andrew took the train up on a Saturday and drove to Portland with me and the boys the next day. I thought having someone with me on my first mini road trip with the boys by myself would be nice. It was so nice to be able to relax in her beautiful home and have someone around to help me with the boys. Always more fun when Nonie is around. We didn't do much at all and that was fine with me. Just time together and relaxing is fine with me. I even got to finish a book which was great. Max and I did venture out to the Portland Children's Museum which I will post pictures in another post. Fun times and we are looking forward to going back again soon. I also got to see my sister, Sam and brother, Andrew! I can't believe how old they are getting. Fun times had by all!
